im really bad at this thing so i might sound silly

but if u have 12 players doing 1v1
you get 6 losers 6 winners right
and then you can have 2 3ways for the winners (A) and 2 3ways for the losers (B)

u get 2 winners (A) and 2 winners (B) they do a 2v2 equipped A vs B !!

and the winners of that 2v2 do a grand final duel 1v1

ok this looks really mental not sure if ive seen all consequences or i might even have destroyed the whole format (the 4ways final)
(im gonna have to unwind my brain for a bit brb)

This is how I envisage it:

- 12 Players
- We do a Round Robin Qualifier, similar format to Spites Goo Power - all 12 players play the other players once. This will give everyone a score based on W/D/L.
- The Top 8 players go through. This will leave 4 players who won't make it.
- those last 4 players will play a 4 way. This will be a 3rd Place.
- Now, the 8 players will do a best of 3 with a randomly chosen opponent. This will result in 4 x best of 3 1v1s.
- This will give us 4 winners and 4 losers.
- The 4 losers will have a 4 way for second place
- The 4 Winners will have a 4 way for first place / Winner!

Now, we could just do a way with the third place, and just say tough luck for the 4 players who don't make it into the final 8. Just thought it would be nice / cool to give the 4 who don't make it a chance to play for a position.

Thoughts?

@Matty - Just so you're aware, you can use Challonge to make a 2 stage competition. It'll handle your round robin, and then make a cup draw following it. It'll also handle sets and scores within games (so you can use it for the best of 3 matches).

What it won't cope with is the 4 ways. It also can't make a seeded draw (1st vs 8th, 2nd vs 7th) for that 2nd stage. You can however move players matchups around manually if you wanted to have seedings.

Overall it's a pretty user friendly site, but give me a shout if you need a hand with the setup.

btw - I'll happily throw a Chaos Lion steam card into the prize 'kitty' ;-)

I like the format, but it seems a bit weird to call the winners of the 4-ways first/second/third place. How come the people who were in the top 4 are beaten out by the best players from the middle and bottom 4? I'm not sure what else you'd call it though.

sounds great, i was just rambling before

though it might be a bit unfair if u meet the best player in the world in round 1 and lose there is no way to get back
even when you are second best in the world :)

Really (but not really, j/k) we should wait for the new creatures to arrive, I've a feeling there will be a pretty sweet counter to rat rush (not that anyone here would be rat rushing o_O ;)

This is a very valid point.

Im thinking first week of February, with Obs 4MOST and Goo Power I thought maybe 3 at the same time was quite a lot.

So there you go Snapshot, new spells by then please :)
