  • Could be neat if they manage to tie together all of the different game modes under this:
    realms- team members on the highscore
    duel - team members on the ranking
    league - team members on the ranking
    custom - custom challenges that are beaten by team members (if that comes into effect)

    Just have some overall reputation system that dials all this stuff together and produces a ranking for guilds. Would have to make flashy and prominent in someway.

    I'm thinking about stuff like this right now, but it may only get as far as thinking in the next update. We will have to wait and see.

  • That's fair! just seeing about getting some speculation, ideas going in case we come up with something interesting :D

    Otherwise, i like were your going with that custom challenges idea. Although little nits like changing 'team' to 'guild' or 'custom games' to 'Challenges & Custom Games' come to mind.

    I think the challenges could possibly work out pretty good as it'd provide some of the more prominent players of the game a means to create content for the community. I don't consider myself a very prominent player as most of my time in the game is spent making realms and the like.

    If you manage to give said prominent players means to send out challenges and the like, in a way that isn't time consuming, you could possibly see some really cool returns from it.

    Though tournaments keep coming to mind, even if it was just a means of setting up a series of games and having a 'reputation' reward by the end of it that's covered by all parties who enter (you use reputation to enter a tourney and possibly leave with all of the reputation that gets put in the pot)

    Challenges could also work as custom games were 1 demigod is able to create 1 challenge at a time, and is able to replace it when they want *otherwise a limit to how many times it's played like realms could be another good buffer as fall back* and players could simply occupy the lobby until it is full and ready for play.

    Alternatively, players could possibly enter Async versions of these challenges and play them that way.

    A choice to have challenges that include other players, or are simply player vs AI would be another good opton to have for PVE players who might want to try a challenge solo or with a friend. Another variant could be 1 player vs 4 who has a buff (like a tricky objective that all players have to beat, while he/she defends it)

    Objectives on top of all of this......could breath some life in their.

    I suppose whats most important to me is:
    -Challenges that demigods/gods can create for players
    -the ability to have PVP challenges as well as solo/coop PVE challenges

    This could possibly be more robust and player retaining then realms if done right. From a user content creator and player perspective.

  • Some other thoughts on this include:

    -Having an encounter like menu for challenge creators to write a little flavor text/instructions spiel for players to read when they click on the challenge. From there, the players could choose whether or not to join the lobby.

    -Have a pop up indicator, which shows when a challenge lobby is full and looking for a player (like invader/ally pop ups) If nothing else, you might have the pop ups work in tandem with the lobby (if players start a challenge with no guild defenders available)

    Say 2 players join a challenge lobby with no defenders available. Ideally, if a guild member was logged in, they could get notified of a challenge and get an invitation to join said lobby. Otherwise, to stop players from having to wait, you could allow them to play AI (like duel mode does) and simply allow the possibility of a random player invading like they would in realms.

    As a challenge creator, you could simply choose whether or not this was a PVP/PVE option by having a (turn invaders/Defenders off/on) in the case that you want to customize a challenge tailored to AI as opposed to real players.

    -Have the challenges display in live and async lobbies so players can have the choice in between them.

    -Have an option to generate map seeds and test them so that you can setup your challenge with a specific map in mind. Say if you wanted to have an escort objective, like "escort icuras tower" from one end to another, you could have a test button to see if a map would work for it. If not, you could click a 'reset map seed' and retest it.

  • So far so interesting...

    Have been trying to make some custom games in vein of the possible challenge UI proposed in the twitter post.

    Some of these objectives or special rules can really freshen the game, as they require different tactics. Definately looking forward to the inclusing of said things if they are to come about!
