Give something to players for playing custom games.

Discussion and questions about the latest version of Chaos Reborn. Not for bugs, but for comments about the game play.

  • Whether it's a small amount of gold, forge crystal, XP or something new (maybe a cosmetic feature) please provide something to players who are playing custom/friendly matches.

    It doesn't have to match the amounts given for league play, but there is a strong group of players who enjoy playing custom matches and competitions and at present we get nothing within the game for that.

    We're still playing the game, and providing an incentive for playing custom matches means that we'll be playing the game more than if that incentive isn't there (as is currently the case).

  • Bump - The game is missing a trick here. Some kind of incentive or reward given to players who enjoy playing friendly/custom matches would be a factor in retaining those players within the game.

  • Given the whole thing of balancing rewards, exploits and what have you the only way i can see this working is some kind of custom tournament system. say:

    Demi-God/God: Has the ability to create a tournament once a week, were they can set the criteria for everyone to fight for. Once the tournament is over, each player takes the prize. Perhaps the god/demigod can create custom trophies (name them) or just say the player placed gold/silver/bronze in "enter god's named tournament"

    Otherwise perhaps players could pool in their own gold/crystals to enter a custom tournament and simply procur the rewards for winning them. For these fee upon entrance tourny's you could add exp bonus as well.

    This is just to balance the exploits and discouraging of them..

    Then on the side you could just have 0 reward/for fun tournaments were you just simply play custom tourny's. Perhaps something to integrate into the 3rd party websites that host them.

    You could then change it from 'Custom Game lobby' To 'Tournament/Custom Game Lobby'

    Just can't see rewards working otherwise as the whole point of league mode is to facilitate player rewards for playing, while custom is more for allowing players to play around and set perameters without worrying about exploits/game economy/etc.

  • Custom tournaments would be a good thing in their own right, and certainly worth discussion.

    The issue here though is more one of player retention. The game offers reward to retain players who enjoy playing certain certain areas of the game such as the official tournaments and realms, but the players who enjoy participating in custom matches, be it as friendly, or part of custom tournaments are being left high and dry.

  • It gets complicated when a player creates something like a (player + 4 advanced bots) vs. 1 (easy bot) match. The Tourneys create a customizable structure that inhibits undue exploits.

    Just a apply a multiplayer based around the number of players in each team.
    Win a 5 v 1 and it's 0.2
    Conversely if you win a 1 v 5 then it's 5.0

    You could do a similar thing with AI level. You could even do it in PvP with a system based on long term ELO.

    And yes, there sure could be other exploits, but then there are with the leagues and with realms.
    The issue that the game has got however is not with exploits, it's get a problem with retaining players, and not having a means of retaining players because that system might then be exploited by those players is silly, at least they'd be playing the game.
