How to give custom live games visibility?

Post by SpiteAndMalice » Sat Sep 09, 2017 7:29 am

We've got a really nice feature now in being able to setup some custom live games with bespoke rules and taboos and whatnot, but when we're creating these games, how are we supposed to let other players know that there is a game available to join; are we just limited to in game chat, or is there another way that the presence of one of these matches could be announced? i.e. a similar pop up to when players are asked to ally/invade in realms

I like the pop up idea.

1+ on the pop up idea, though demi gods should have the option of when to fire it off, and have a limit for how many times they can fire that announcement in a certain time span.

Otherwise, ASYNC! So many folks miss out on this, because it's restricted to live mode. What's more strange about it is that custom objectives, rules lend themselves so well to async due to the GUI prompt that can remind players what they're doing when they log back in.

Though one oversight in typing this is that you'd probably want to make other player's objectives and taboos visible to you. Although, you're able to scan talismans of other players, why not objectives as well?

Realm battles have to be accepted in seconds, Custom Live Games don't. Chat is there for a reason and at a certain point the volume of notifications simply becomes annoying & a Player will either turn them off (if possible) or stop playing.

By that logic, they'd be doing the same over realm notifications (which pop up all the time).

I don't play realms, but it's never bothered me that other players who are potentially interested receive that notification and get the chance to join realm battles.

More notifications, but also allow players to turn off notifications for game modes that they don want to see.
