Magic Attack (and no, it's not a glue)

Discussion and questions about the latest version of Chaos Reborn. Not for bugs, but for comments about the game play.

  • I've just taken a look at this and it seems to be.. Damage = Spell's Attack Power / (Spell's Attack Power+Target's Magic Power) *125

I tested in classic mode where wizards have equal MP (100 MP) so the results are the base damage numbers (when opposing wizards have differing MP stats 'spell power modifiers' come in to play and alter the base attack power, see in-game guide)

Single MA - 80 attack power
Double MA - 100 attack power
Triple MA - 30 attack power
Quintuple MA - 50 attack power.

    Examples
    Single MA versus Paladin .. 80 power / (80 power+100 MP) *125 = 56 damage
    Double MA versus Dragon .. 100 power / (100 power+140 MP) *125 = 52 damage
    Triple MA versus Zombies .. 30 power / (30 power+20 MP) *125 = 75 damage
    Quintuple MA versus Rats .. 50 power / (50 power+10 MP) *125 = 104 damage (one shot kill)

Thanks a bunch Mazy! So it seems to be the same formula, but with the exception that height does not matter?

  • I'd always operated under the assumption that it took into account both wizard's magic levels

  • Spell Power Modifier - Casting wizards magic power divided by opposing wizards magic power.. the resulting number is then multiplied with the base power of spell.

..e.g, a 150 mp wizard versus a 100 mp wizard would be 150/100 = 1.5 ..the base power of the spell will be multiplied by 1.5 ..an 80 power magic attack will actually be 120 power.

..If the wizard with the weaker magic power was casting the same spell the multiplier would be 100/150 = 0.66.. in this case the base power of the spell will be multiplied by 0.66 ..the 80 power magic attack will actually be 53 power.

  • ok thanks

and did they change megabolt? because it always seems to do 99 damage now in law mode,
while i was pretty sure the damage was dependent on a wizards magic power (as the description says)

What kind of load-out? ..an equipped law wizard with 130 MP versus a target with 30 defence typically does 99 damage (140 MP could one-shot 30 def though, 100 damage).

I guess megacarmen would be required to one-shot 40 def armour though, because a maxed out MP of 180 only manages 97 damage against 40 def.

The overall attack power of a bolt is its base power (50) + half of your MP stat versus the targets defence... The MP of the opposing wizard (or the target's MP) doesn't come into the equation.

A classic law bolt on a wizard always does 89 damage.. the base power of a bolt is 50, half of the wizards 100 MP is 50, so the overall attack power of a classic bolt is always 100..

..Classic wizard defence always starts at 40, a 100 attack power bolt does 89 damage to 40 def.. 100/(100+40)*125 = 89
