nerf vampire mega

its too cheap on some staffs and it counters pretty much everything
make more expensive or lower their stats while making their leech more powerful or something like it

:)

on a further note:
The concept of megaspells could use an overhaul like it was argued here before.
Instead of a megaspell just giving you more of the same it would be much nicer if it added something special.
In case of a vampire mega one could imagine a lich that gives leech to all creatures raised from the dead.
Or like garys suggestion that a dragon mega gives a gold dragon with better stats.
I always fancy a paladin mega that gives a crusader which boosts defense stats to all friendly creatures in a 3hex radius.
Anyway i guess that is the fun developers get to play with, but there is some nice room to explore here, without even changing things too much.

I mean Law or Chaos. Different gameplay mechanics at issue and different balancing concerns in each.

I find the vampire mega to be fine as it is in Classic Chaos mode. Vampires on the whole feel a little underpowered to me, they do have potential when on the map, but very rarely realise it.

The Vampire Mega is OP in Equipped Chaos. Vampires are even stronger in Law.

Vampires are superior to Hydra and this becomes absurd when vamps reach height 3 or 4 in power because the mana value doesn't increase with the stats. The Vampire Mega is too easy to cast and inexpensive given the benefit.

The knock on Vamps is that they have a weak attack to start, bad vs. wizards, bad vs. spiders to start, bad vs. zombies, bad vs. air elementals: all units that are easier to cast with lower mana values. Buffed Vamps annihilate. It takes one leeched rat to hit like a Paladin. A Vamp with 60 defense in Law Mode far more valuable than its cost. A paralyzed Vamp won't die in one hit generally at 60 base defense.

It's too easy to drop 2 Vamp mega's a game. I can activate Gobilenus and Rentaos and expect to hit the Vamp Mega once or a second try if the first fails. I would field Dragon Mega, but despite how awesome dragons are the casting cost and casting chance are prohibitive. I think after the Slight nerf I will suggest I would still field Vamps and they would be strong.

I think that Vampires need a Slight Nerf. Raise Vamp Mega cost for Creature, Marksman, Air, and Fast Staffs by 5. Decrease mega casting cost to 65%. Add 1 point of mana value per height gained.

I think that Law Staff deserves, 'Saren's Champion'. 70% casting chance. A lunar spotlight alights on the unit and it gains Undead Slayer for the next attack. As the next attack kills an Undead unit then Undead Slayer is retained for an additional attack. Saren's Champion is a counterpoint to Meteor Swarm for Chaos or Paralyze for Neutral. This spell is a universal nerf to Undead and gives Giants, mounts, Hydra's, Dragons, Elves, etc. the potential to become an undead nemesis. We would see players begin to return to Giant Megas, Hydra Mega, etc. This would aid the Air Staff which only has Icarus tower and vamp to fight undead.

Vamps aren't the main problem. The main problem is that excessive Undead immunity is making Undead 'trump card' units so I suggest adding risk for players who plan to depend on their units' undead immunity. Nothing new can be designed prior to Phoenix Point succeeding. I think that the Slight Nerf to Vampires is an incremental measure and largely a stat change. It would divert minimal effort from Phoenix Point to try out in Beta or implement.

yes it would be nice if you could cast weapons on humanoids
and even nicer if they could mount creatures :)

this would be nice undead counters
a mounted goblin with a bow or a giant on a elephant with a sword
lords of chaos tactics
